Natalie Schäfer is an awarded composer who currently lives in Malmö, Sweden. When composing, she always tries to capture the emotional core of a project. To her visuals and music belong together. Her music is deeply influenced by the synesthesia she experiences.
She started composing at the age of 12. At the age of 16, she wrote her first arrangements. Her fascination for composition led her to studies in classical music theory and composition at the University of Music and Theatre Rostock with Prof. Dr. Dr. Lang and Prof. Wolf as well as Mathias Steinauer at Zürich University of the Arts. She took part in masterclasses with Prof. Dr. Sackmann (Zürich University of the Arts), Prof. Dr. Petersen (Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz), Prof. Dr. Holtmeier (Freiburg University of Music), Prof. Dr. Sprau (Berlin University of the Arts) and Prof. Dr. Brandes (Universität Mozarteum Salzburg).
Natalie Schäfer holds a masters degree in honor in composition for film and media from Malmö Academy of Music.
She is currently studying classical composition at Malmö Academy of Music in the Composition Diploma (soloist) program.
From November 19th to 23rd she will participate the Discovery Campus „Music meets film“ in Tallinn (Estonia) which is part of the Industry@Tallinn&Baltic event 2024.
From June to October 2024 she supported the short film project at the Rostock University of Music and Theater as a lecturer in film music.
From October 2024 to February 2025 she is a lecturer in classical music theory at the Rostock University of Music and Theater.
